Driven into a wall by compositional stereotypes, Jose Frederick Hernandez seeks to change the status quo through an explosive style in his writing. Trumpeter and Composer, Jose was born in Passaic, New Jersey, a small town outside of New York City. Spending his childhood in Passaic and later Kissimmee, Florida, Jose grew up listening to a healthy blend of musical styles, among them being a vast library of Latin and Jazz tunes and artists. With a stunning grasp on harmony and an uncanny approach to rhythm and form in his pieces, Jose truly displays his passion for artistic expression in his compositions. Jose’s most recent musical endeavors include a five movement piece for string quartet titled “Time of Day”, and "The February Project", where he writes a short piece every day and finds players to record them. Jose is working on getting his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition at The Florida State University College of Music, currently studying under Dr. Ladislav Kubik.
